The Noisy World

We live in a noisy world.

Every company is competing for our attention.

Notifications.
Recommendations.
Infinite feeds.
Endless content.

Many digital products are designed to keep us engaged for as long as possible.

Sometimes they amplify conflict.

Sometimes they reinforce our existing beliefs.

Sometimes they make us feel that if we stop paying attention, we will miss something important.

Algorithms are not good or bad by themselves.

They simply optimize for the goals they are given.

But companies choose those goals.

And too often, the goal is not understanding, growth, or well-being.

The goal is attention.

More attention.
More engagement.
More time spent.

Attention Matters

Attention is one of the most valuable things we have.

It shapes what we think, what we believe, and ultimately who we become.

We believe attention should not be taken from us unconsciously.

It should be handled consciously.

And at least some of it should belong not to the world around us, but to ourselves.

Why Talk to Myself Exists

Talk to Myself is not designed to make you dependent on it.

Our goal is not to keep you scrolling.

Our goal is not to keep you coming back out of anxiety.

Our goal is not to become the center of your attention.

Instead, we hope to help you return some of that attention to yourself.

To notice your thoughts.

To understand your feelings.

To see patterns in your life.

To hear your own voice more clearly.

Freedom, Not Dependence

A good teacher does not create dependence.

A good counselor does not create dependence.

A good spiritual guide does not create dependence.

Their goal is to help people become more aware, more independent, and ultimately more free.

We believe technology should strive for the same thing.

How We Think About Business

We do not believe charging money is wrong.

The question is not whether people pay.

The question is what they are paying for.

There is a difference between:

  • selling attention to advertisers,

  • creating anxiety to drive engagement,

and

  • helping people preserve their memories,

  • understand their stories,

  • reflect on their growth.

A library membership and a casino both cost money.

But they are not the same kind of business.

We hope to build the former.

A Promise to Ourselves

One day, Talk to Myself may have dashboards full of numbers:

  • Daily Active Users

  • Monthly Active Users

  • Session Length

  • Retention Rates

Those numbers matter.

But they must never become the reason we exist.

If we ever care more about keeping people inside the app than helping them understand themselves,

we will have forgotten why we started.

Our Hope

The internet helped us understand the world.

But somewhere along the way, it forgot something important:

our inner life.

We hope Talk to Myself can be a small reminder of that.

We also hope it can be a small shelter in a noisy world.

A place you can return to from time to time.

A place to pause.

A place to hear your own thoughts.

A place to reconnect with yourself.

Not social.

Not AI.

Just you.

We don't answer for you.

We help you see your mind.
